What to look for in a cyber security provider
Not all providers are equal. Here are the questions worth asking before you sign.
Choosing a cyber security partner is a big decision. These are the questions we'd ask if we were in your shoes.
Who is watching, and when?
Ask whether they monitor around the clock, and who actually responds to an alert at 3am on a Sunday. Is it their own team, or a third party you'll never speak to?
Do they respond, or just alert?
Detection without response just means you find out faster. A good provider can isolate a device or lock an account the moment a threat is confirmed.
Do they practise what they preach?
Look for certifications like Cyber Essentials Plus and IASME Cyber Assurance on the provider itself, not just offered as a service.
Will they plan with you?
Security isn't a product. Your provider should help you build a risk register, review it with you regularly, and explain things in plain English.
Can they handle compliance?
If you're in a regulated sector or a supply chain like defence, check they understand the frameworks your customers ask for.
We're happy to be measured against every one of these. Ask us.
